Dr. Shelina Dhanji, DDS

Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Shelina Dhanji emigrated from Uganda as a refugee in 1973. She grew up in Toronto, Ontario and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Toronto, where she earned a bachelor’s degree with honours in Biomedical Sciences. She then went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree at University of Detroit Michigan with honors and awards.

Dr. Dhanji then continued her training at Medical University of South Carolina where she specialized in Paediatric Dentistry. Dr. Dhanji is the sole owner of Dentistry 4 Kids - Ajax, a pediatric dental practice located in Ajax, Ontario since 1999. This practice has six certified pediatric dentists, an orthodontist, a general dentist and a medical anesthesiologist at the practice as providers.

Dr. Dhanji and her daughter, Dr. Safina Dhanji co-own Dentistry 4 Kids - Woodbridge in Woodbridge, Ontario. Dr. Dhanji has also been part of the dental team at The Scarborough Health Network, which includes the Centenary, Birchmount and General hospitals, since 1992. She is also has hospital privileges at Georgian Bay Hospital in Midland, Ontario. Dr. Dhanji also has a passion for teaching and has been a clinical instructor at University of Toronto and has instructed classes in undergraduate clinical pediatric dentistry as well as the graduate residents at the Surgicenter at University of Toronto. 

Growing up as a refugee, Dr. Dhanji has a passion for serviced in underprivileged parts of the world. She has been recognized for her efforts to improve and educate individuals on oral health. She is a founding member of the Abulcasis Dental Alliance, which allows her to travel to all parts of the world and aid with the development of oral health care clinics, most notably in Northern Pakistan, Tanzania and Tajikistan. Being an avid traveller, Dr. Dhanji has also lectured undergraduate and graduate students on various topics in Paediatric Dentistry at the Aga Khan University in Karachi, Pakistan. When she is not practicing dentistry, Dr. Dhanji enjoys cooking and spending time with her family which includes her husband, and her three daughters. 


Dr. Divya Chandra, DDS

Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Chandra is a board-certified paediatric dentist and a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada in paediatric dentistry. She has been with the D4K team since 2001 and strongly believes in a team approach to delivering safe and comfortable dental care to all her patients. She has extensive experience managing anxiety in a dental setting for both patients and guardians and endeavours to review all treatment options in a thoughtful detailed manner. Upon graduating with honours from University of Toronto, Faculty of Dentistry in 1998, Dr Chandra completed her Masters in Paediatric Dentistry from the same university in 2001. She has been teaching at the Faculty of Dentistry, University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry since 2001 and is the course coordinator for Craniofacial Growth and Development. In her spare time, Dr. Chandra enjoys yoga, tennis, travelling and spending time with her family. Dr. Chandra loves anything Harry Potter!!


Dr. Sabrina Sunderji, DDS

Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Sabrina Sunderji is a certified specialist in Pediatric Dentistry. She received her Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) degree in 2013 from the University of Toronto. Building on her passion to work with children, she completed two years of Pediatric Dentistry specialty training in 2015 at the University of Texas Houston branch. Dr Sabrina’s experience includes treating a diversity of special needs and medically complex patients in the hospital and private practice setting.

Dr Sabrina resides in Riverdale with her husband and daughter. She loves traveling, being active, and spending time with her family in the beautiful parks in her neighborhood.

 


Dr. Nashat Cassim, DDS

Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Nashat Cassim A.K.A Dr. Nash is a board certified pediatric dentist and a fellow of The Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He completed his dental degree at the University of Toronto, followed by a one year residency at The Hospital for Sick Children. He then completed his pediatric dentistry specialty at the University of Toronto. He currently teaches at the University of Toronto as an Assistant Professor. Dr. Nash aims to provide high quality care in a safe and comfortable way for all patients, and does this through an empathetic and compassionate approach.


Dr. Fehmida Dosani, DDS

Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Fehmida Dosani was born and raised in Toronto. She completed her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree at the University of Toronto in 2009, followed by a general practice residency at The Hospital for Sick Children in 2010. She then moved with her husband to Houston, Texas where she completed her specialty certificate and Master’s degree in pediatric dentistry in 2013. She was an assistant professor at the University of Texas Health Science Center in Houston until she relocated back to Toronto in 2020. She now splits her time between clinical practice and teaching pediatric dental residents at the University of Toronto Faculty of Dentistry.

Dr. Dosani is a fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada, and a diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. She has received several awards including the James R. Roche Award of Excellence and the Arthur J. Nowak Award of Excellence, for receiving the highest score on the written and oral-clinical examinations of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry respectively.

Dr. Dosani is happy to be back in Toronto and enjoys traveling, reading, and spending time with her family, especially her two young children. Dr. Dosani was inspired by her mother, a dentist who has treated her patients like family for 40 years. She aims to treat all her patients with the same compassion and care that she would want for her own children.  


Dr. Safina Dhanji, DMD

Certified Specialist in Pediatric Dentistry

Dr. Safina Dhanji grew up in Markham, Ontario and received her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario, where she earned a bachelor’s degree with honours in Biomedical Sciences. She then went on to complete her Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree at Boston University with the highest distinction and awards. Most notably, the Spencer N. Frankl Award, and the Boston University Award for Pediatric Dentistry. She was also inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU) National Dental Honors Society.

Upon completion, Dr. Dhanji continued her training at Boston University to earn her specialty degree in Paediatric Dentistry. During her postdoctoral training, she worked at Franciscan Children’s Hospital and Boston Medical Center treating children with extensive dental needs and various special needs. She then returned to Toronto and is currently practicing at Dentistry 4 Kids in Ajax, Ontario and Woodbridge, Ontario. Dr. Dhanji also practices in Orillia and Midland at Wyandotte Dental Center and Georgian Bay General Hospital respectively.

Dr. Dhanji wholeheartedly believes in community service as her family is actively involved in local and global initiatives to improve acess and standard of dental care. She has participated in dental service trips to Tanzania through the Aga Khan Health Services & the Abulcasis Dental Alliance. Her practice philosophy includes taking extra time to get to know each and every one of her patients and making each experience a fun and positive one. During her spare time, she enjoys spending time with her family and friends and cooking!

 


Dr. Sara Lalani, DMD

Certified Specialist in Orthodontics

Dr. Sara Lalani was born and raised in Toronto where she completed her undergraduate degree in Honours Biology. She then moved to Boston where she attended Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine, graduating dental school in the top 3% of her class with the highest level of academic distinction, summa cum laude. Based on her academic achievements and community involvement, she was awarded membership into the national dental honours society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon.

With a passion for creating smiles, Dr. Lalani continued her dental education at Boston University, specializing in Orthodontics. During residency, Dr. Lalani was exposed to a wide variety of cases ranging from interceptive treatment for children, to complex, multi-disciplinary and surgical adult cases. In addition to her clinical training, Dr. Lalani pursued her interest for research and completed a Masters in Science and Orthodontics. She went on to pass both the American and Canadian licensing Boards, and was granted fellowship as an orthodontic specialist by the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

When not in the office, you may find Dr. Lalani practicing yoga, playing tennis, spending time with her husband and family, or enjoying a movie and eating dessert! Dr. Lalani truly enjoys making you smile – she looks forward to meeting you and your family and having fun along your orthodontic journey :)
